Damian McMeekin

Damian McMeekin

Head of Group Security, ANZ Bank

Damian McMeekin is responsible for protecting the security ANZ’s people, programmes and assets by managing threats from the external environment including geopolitical risks. ANZ turned 180 years old in 2015 and provides a range of banking and financial products and services to over nine million customers in 34 countries.
Damian joined ANZ in 2005 after working previously in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade managing issues of international security, political and economic affairs from both international and Australian positions. In addition to assignments in Canberra he was posted to Australian diplomatic missions in Hong Kong, Thailand, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia and was seconded to the British government.

He is on the Boards of the International Banking Security Association, International Security Management Association, the not-for-profits iDcare and Australian Security Medals Foundation and the committee of the Asia Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.

Under his Command he has responsibility for:
• Emergency and non emergency response
• Triple Zero (000)
• Police Assistance Line (131444)
• Crime Stoppers
• Corruption hotline
• Customer Assistance Unit
• Direct Access Service for Armed Hold-up and Duress Alarms, and
• The Child Well Being Unit

His Command employs approximately 400 personnel, operates 24/7, 356 days of the year, and receives over 32,000 contacts per week.

Amongst others, Chris is also:
• Chair of the National Emergency Communications Working Group-Australia and New Zealand
• A member of the New South Wales InterCAD Electronic Messaging Governance Committee (past Chair)
• Chair of the New South Wales InterCAD Electronic Messaging Technical Group
• A Director on the Company Board of New South Wales Crime Stoppers Ltd

In 2014 Chris was awarded the prestigious International Crime Stoppers ‘2014 Civilian of the Year Award’ in Cape Town South Africa.
Chris is lead on the National Emergency Management Program Project – Next Generation Triple Zero (000).

CEO, Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC)

Alan has 27 years experience in the Education and Training sector. He worked as a Director and for a short time as a Senior Executive Service Officer within the former Australian Federal Department of Employment, Education and Training.

For the past 20 years he has worked full time on Vocational Education and Training, including five years as CEO of the former Property Services Training Australia (PSTA) and then as CEO of the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC). Alan has been in this role since CPSISC’s formation eleven years ago.

As CEO of CPSISC he has overseen the reform of training in the Property and Construction industry. Alan has worked closely with international colleagues to ensure that training in Australia is world class.

In recent times he has ensured that CPSISC has been at the forefront of workforce development through a range of government programs including the first Skills Connect project in Australia at Barangaroo in Sydney.

CPSISC has also played a key role in Careers Advice through our Construct My Career site and the recently launched the Industry Women Central Hub. These achievements have only been possible through strong teamwork by quality staff, great co-operation with Government and input from industry, employers and unions.
The Board of CPSISC has been outstanding and have provided the guidance and industry input on developments.
